JAKK blog August 2024
In the wake and aftermath of the attempted assassination of the former president, Donald Trump, many questions have been raised, and whether you believe it was an attempt on his life, or whether you believe the conspiracy theorists, the U.S intelligence and the presidents security is under close scrutiny.
This is what we know so far:
The FBI failed to secure the building only 130m from the podium, right in direct line of the former president. It was a known security risk.
Eye witnesses had ‘clearly spotted Crooks’ on the roof of the building with a rifle and alerted police. Nothing was done and it is unclear if the concerns raised reached the federal agents and security surrounding Trump.
Crooks fired from what is now known as the ‘secondary ring’, policed by local law enforcement, not government agents, but if the police knew, why was Trump allowed to continue?
The event was badly resourced, with secret service agents spread thinly on the ground, and certainly local police would not have been trained up to secure an event like this.
Trump was not taken off stage quickly enough, at one point he even asked to collect his shoes which he had taken off. The security allowed him to do this, despite their own lives being at risk as they surrounded him acting as a human shield.
There were many errors that day, and working in the security business, we at JAKK take every measure we can to ensure smooth running of the events we ‘police’ which include large festivals and other events where large groups of people congregate, and the threat of injury and to life is around us all the time.
At JAKK Security, our front line staffing levels have gone from 30 to 48 in recent months, with more people applying. We do not, and will not understaff any event we cover and even our cleaner, Liz, is doing her S.I.A badge to become a part of our professional and proud front line team.
Aside from the front line security we work we do, “key holding’ is becoming an increasing demand from customers and businesses and we look after many private properties and places of work all over the County. Our dedicated staff respond in a timely manner to alarms and our marked patrol cars, proactively engage on visits to our key holders properties as a matter of course.
Community Safety officers are now being employed by JAKK - a vital role reassuring the public that we are doing all we can to bring them peace of mind.
What is their role exactly?
To have a clear understanding of their role to; protect life, the protection of property and premises, the prevention of loss or waste and the prevention and deterring of crime.
As well as our Community Safety Officers, we employ C.O’s (Community Hot Spot Officers) which is a relatively new role to JAKK.
Their purpose?
Operating on behalf of the City Council should engage proactively and positively with partners and ensure professional standards of behaviour, and to provide a visible and reassuring increased presence in areas of Gloucester which are identified as ‘hotspots’ for ASB or perceived to be ‘unsafe’ on behalf of the City Council.
So creating new roles within the business shows a progressive growth in the right direction, offering job roles and giving more local people the opportunity of employment.
So what else have we been up to at JAKK Security to help push us in the right direction?
We have updated and improved our offices, including a new phone system so we know we are contactable 24/7 for our clients and offer a better service.
We have installed new CCTV systems around our offices not only offering our own security on the building, but protection for our officers and staff returning to the building after a shift.
A variety of training (Safeguarding, health & safety for example) is being rolled out to all staff, online and in person so we are confident in providing the best possible service to our customers.
We are carrying out audits on all our staff to ensure standards are being adhered to and maintained, and we are working hard on our Google ranking and Social Media channels to engage on as many platforms as we can.
We also have our own security dog… Tilly who will welcome you should you ever visit our office.
So with a few beer festivals, The New Heights Festival, a LuLu concert at the Sub Rooms, The Polish Day at Gloucester Park, Hartpury Dinner, the General Elections amongst many other events, we hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.
